What to Expect Before, During and After Your Ellacor Treatment

Before Your Treatment

You should stay out of the sun and avoid tanning your skin since sun exposure can cause your skin to be more sensitive. During the Procedure

Your skin will be treated with numbing cream, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes to take effect. Sometimes a local anesthetic is also used for larger or more sensitive areas. Once the skin is numb, Dr. Meathrel will place the device on the skin one section at a time, where it will remove the micro-cores in a set pattern. You can expect some small points of bleeding, which will be controlled with gentle pressure before the area is cleaned and a protective dressing or ointment is applied.

After Your Treatment

Your skin will form tiny scabs over the areas where skin was removed. You should allow these to flake away on their own, usually within about a week. Be sure to keep the skin in the area clean and moisturized while the scabs fall off naturally to help with the process. Sun protection is particularly important during this stage since fresh skin is more prone to pigment changes, and your skin will also be more sensitive to heat, such as saunas or hot showers.
