Which type of moisturizer should I use?

The type of moisturizer you should use depends on your skin type and specific needs. Here are some general guidelines to help you choose the right moisturizer:

  1. Determine your skin type: Is your skin oily, dry, combination, or sensitive? Knowing your skin type will help you choose a moisturizer that addresses your specific concerns.

  2. Look for key ingredients: For dry skin, look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. For oily skin, look for lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers that won't clog your pores. If you have sensitive skin, look for moisturizers that are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.

  3. Consider your environment: If you live in a dry climate, you may need a heavier moisturizer than someone who lives in a more humid environment.

  4. You do not need to choose a sunscreen-containing moisturizer: Protecting your skin from the sun is important, but several studies have shown people who rely on sun protection in their moisturizer end up with more sun damage. Most people do not apply enough moisturizer to achieve the labelled amount of sun protection and may stay out in the sun longer or not apply another sunblock because they have a false sense of security from their moisturizer. I always recommend a dedicated sunblock on top of your moisturizer.

  5. Try a few options: Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to find the perfect moisturizer for your skin. Don't be afraid to try a few different options until you find one that works well for you. Better yet, come in to the clinic for a customized skincare evaluation and let our team of experts find the right product for your skin,

Overall, it's important to choose a moisturizer that addresses your skin's specific needs and is comfortable for you to wear.
